The BALM-Federal Logistics and Mobility Office has the legal mandate to observe and assess the development of the transport market.
The BALM-Federal Logistics and Mobility Office has been commissioned by the BMDV to look after the “moving medium-term forecast for freight and passenger traffic”.
With effect from 1 January 1996, tasks in the field of air traffic were transferred from the Federal Ministry of Digitals and Transport to the BALM for the first time.

The BMDV expert network is the intermodal research format in the departmental research of the BMDV. Seven departmental research institutions and specialist authorities of the Federal Ministry of Digitals and Transport (BMDV) joined forces in 2016 to form a network under the motto “Knowledge - Ability - Action”.
